Minute Repeater

The Observatoire 1872 Minute Repeater: a complication of exception in a traditional case

With the Observatoire 1872 Minute Repeater, Badollet combines one of the earliest complications with a traditional case, imbibed with the charm and style of a pocket watch. Sober and elegant, this Time-Keeping Instrument has a round case, with soft curves in 18C grey gold. Here shown with a cut Opaline dial, the Observatoire 1872 Minute Repeater can be customized to suit every taste – like all Badollet Time-Keeping Instruments. Visible through the transparent case-back and the dial aperture, the finishes dexterously reveal the high quality and expert workmanship of this luxury timepiece. The hammers, timbre gongs and the damper of the minute repeater are visible on the bridge side.

A calibre combining two major complications of horological art.
At the heart of this horological jewel beats the BAD1655 caliber, a mechanical escapement mechanism with a Swiss tourbillon anchor. This caliber combines two major complications of horological art: the flying tourbillon, and the minute repeater, triggered by the wheel lock, on the 9 o’clock side. One loaded, the time is given by the hammers striking the timbre gongs. These hammers sound the hours with the low-pitched timbre, the quarters by an alternation of the low and high timbres, and the minutes by the high-pitched timbre.
